Why Mark Kanemura?

I'm an avid So You Think You Can Dance viewer. I'm the one that goes online and onto the SYTYCD forums to discuss shows and dancers after each episode (I know, so cool right? LOL). I fell in love with Travis Wall during Season 2 and I fell in love with Danny Tidwell in Season 3. (I haven't yet watched Season 1 but Blake McGrath is brilliant as well.) Anyways, I didn't think I could find another dancer that I would be in awe of and respect and admire as much as Travis or Danny. In fact I had very little expectation that any Season 4 dancer would capture my heart and interest the way the Tidwalls did. And then Season 4's Vegas Week episode rolled around...

And there he was, Mark Kanemura.

Now as the Vegas episode showed very little of Mark, I'm not going to lie and say RIGHT AT THAT MOMENT, I KNEW, I JUST KNEW HE WOULD BE THE STAND-OUT DANCER OF THE SEASON! because I didn't think that right away. But I did think, as I saw what little the show showed of him in that episode, that Wow, this guy is really, really interesting. And that Bohemian Rhapsody solo was really fun to watch.

At the end of the episode when it was announced that he made Top 20, I hopped onto my oh so beloved SYTYCD forum (IdolForums.Com/IDF) and then the interest, the obsession, what would become the rest of my summer 2008, kicked off.

Mark Kanemura. My favourite dancer of Season 4. My favourite dancer in existence.

Mark's talent, his passion, his dancing drive and love of dance and movement... his heart and his personality. Every little quirky, fun, funny, adorable, strange thing about him. Love. Even though I lived in Canada, I spent the summer using online programs that allowed me to vote for him. I spent the better part of my weeks discussing his dances, his technique, his showmanship, his reactions, his pre-packages, his hair, his expressions---everything, with the rest of what has become known as Mark's Markers on IDF. I happily helped to compile a Mark fan Photobucket page that gave all Mark fans easy access to his pictures, screencaptures, and 'Markimations' (Mark animations, created ala me!)

I shared and helped propel the Power of Wub for Mark. Yes, Wub. Immense and immeasurable amounts of love and support for Markooshka. And when the season ended, I knew what I had to do... I knew what I needed and what I wanted to do...

I needed to create a fansite for this incredible dancer who came into my life, took me by delighted surprise, and won my heart.

And that is why markkanemura-online.org exists.

I also hope this fansite will become a spot for all Markers, be it ones who were originally from IDF, originally from LJ, or originally from TWoP, can come together here as a general Marker meetup spot online.

I truly hope that I will be able to update and manage this regularly. I'm a 2nd year college student with a job and I also run traviswall-online.org. I realize that taking on another fansite might not have been the brightest idea but as I said, this is something I feel I needed to do. Because Mark deserves it ;)
